And now for an update…

Okay i am very well aware that i haven’t updated this blog since i have been back in South Africa… I really am a terrible person in that sense. 😉 Honestly though i have been super busy. I have been working solidly since i have arrived back in Gansbaai on the 27th Oct and have had just 2 days off.

Its a pretty difficult time for everyone that relies on the Great White Sharks here. For those that are unaware the GWS have been hunted by a couple of Orcas. At least 2 White Shark carcasses have washed up over the last 6 months that show signs of Orca on White Shark Predation… Mainly the livers of the shark are completely missing. The sharks disappear for weeks at a time, the ocras are sighted again and repeat. I really do hope the white sharks do come back, but for now the copper sharks are keeping the cage diving industry here going.

I am pretty lucky i am interning at the African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary… Though the sharks missing affects everyone! Even us, with an increased number of our endangered African Penguin coming in with seal bites. I have already been part of a release on Dyer Island and seem to be picking up jobs here and there! Please if you are in the area pop into APSS, have a cup of coffee and a cake! See what we do here! Buy a brick or a house to support us 😉

2 Weeks!

If someone had said to me a few years ago that by Christmas 2017 i’d have visited South Africa 3 times in less than 2 years, i would have laughed at you! But here i am not even 2 years on from when i originally came out to South Africa, making my final arrangements for my 3rd trip.

This time around i will solely be based at APSS in Gansbaai for the busy chick season which is looming. I must say that i am super excited to be going back!
